DR. EMILIE WILSON

Naturopathic Doctor and Acupuncturist

Meet Emilie

Hi There!

I’m Dr. Emilie Wilson. I’m a naturopathic doctor, acupuncturist, author, and new mother.

I spent my career helping women transform their bodies and lose weight by balancing their hormones and reclaiming their cardiometabolic health.

This was inspired by my own 40 pound weight loss: I had the privilege and thrill of walking as a new woman, being 40 pounds lighter with NONE of the hormone, gut or mood symptoms that had plagued me for years!

Soon after, I started dating again. I quickly met my daughter’s father. Two years, one month and one day after our first date, our daughter arrived.

Before that, in 2022 while I enjoyed a lovely pregnancy, I was called to write a pregnancy wellness book.

But on October 6, 2022, the day my daughter was born, I experienced a traumatic home birth.

My recovery and postpartum experience, including a lonely journey through postpartum depression, revealed to me the maternal healthcare crisis. Suddenly I was living the mood, hormone, and energy symptoms I’d dealt with for years while 40 pounds heavier, but x1000 and for a completely different reason. I felt utterly trapped and isolated. Nowhere to run, and nowhere to hide.

In my postpartum journey I learned that BIPOC and transgender birthing parents inordinately bear the burden of postpartum health struggles (both physical and mental), while also having less access to medical care.

I knew that if I as a naturopathic doctor and a resourced white woman could struggle so much postpartum, then too many are bearing that pain alone, without answers or help. And too many of us aren’t surviving it.

Neither my OB-GYN nor my midwife uttered a word to me about postpartum preparation. I remember thinking I’d cross that bridge when I came to it. But I didn’t cross it. I stumbled, I fell, I lost sight. Again and again and again.

Part of my recovery included the awareness that I wanted to walk alongside every person going through this journey.

So I re-envisioned my pregnancy wellness book with a postpartum focus.

In my book I’ve compiled all the information women need that their doctors aren’t giving them, as well as what I’ve learned in my journey as a doctor, a pregnant woman, a new mother, and as a human with a history of trauma, joy, pain, loss, ambition, and passion.

My book POST: The Essential Guide to Creating Your Postpartum Self-Care Plan in Pregnancy is a comprehensive guide to lead expecting parents through pregnancy so they can enter parenthood focused on what matters: their health, and their relationship with their new baby.

POST is my love letter to all new birthing parents.

For birth parents who think they may want or need more support, I also offer a postpartum wellness and support program. No obligations, no items to check off your list: just unconditional support and the opportunity to be truly seen and heard at a time of life that birthing parents need it most, yet receive it the least.

"You are more powerful than you know."
